This course is intended for Youth Learners 16-19 yrs of age and ideally suited as a taster or preparation for a design career. In this course you will learn the fundamentals of design, operate your own project, use the facilities and equipment which is Computer Aided Engineering (CAD) driven. This course will use a variety of objectives to achieve a balanced learning from use of technology and application of design to giving the student insight into the time management tools and challenges in society that designers face today. The course is outlined as follows: Be able to specify a project, agree procedures and choose a solution Be able to plan and monitor a project Be able to implement the project plan within agreed procedures Be able to present the project outcome. This course will also involve: Reading a drawing. Introduction to methods of part modelling, CAD concepts and specific user functions. Introduction to the user interface and palettes. Creating and design parts. Creating a complex assembly. Understand the common different types of drawing views including orthographic projections, exploded views. Developed 3D models and 2D drawings. Understand the difference between 1st and 3rd angle projections. Using PTC ONSHAPE develop an assembly and Bill of Materials.
